For starters, I don’t like writing about myself. But you’re here, so I may as well.
I’m a twenty-four year old, United States Coast Guard wife and mom to one wee, little four year old. Currently, we’re stationed in Savannah, Georgia, and loving it. I don’t work, but the term “homemaker” brings to mind the southern sense of the word: barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, which I’m not.
I found a way to fill out my days at our last duty station. When Mr. Yarn Bearer’s boat was going to be underway for two months, I figured it was time to find a hobby. Just before he left, we walked into a strange shop in Hannibal, Missouri, called Twain’s Yarn, I knew right then and there that I was going to figure that yarn stuff out. When the man of the house came home, I had made a baby blanket for his cousin and two Hot Head beanies from Stitch N Bitch Nation.
By then though, I had already been quilting and embroidering for a while, so I guess those crafts are like the “gateway drugs” to knitting. It’s a natural transition, I think.
The rest of my life, though? Hmm, you know, I do enjoy being in the kitchen, trying new recipes (new to me anyway). I aspire to have my house covered in my hand-knits, quilts, and handiwork. It doesn’t take much to make me happy.
