Could knitting get any more cozy?

Yes.  Of course it can.

Apparently, all of my good ideas come to me in the shower.  It’s the only time I can get any peace, unless Mr. Yarn Bearer is home.  He has a habit of walking in and wanting to chat, so I get distracted, and end up shampooing my hair twice.  I go through a lot of shampoo that way.

Back to the good idea, I thought that if I’m making needle cozies for my straight needles, my circular and dpns need to be fashioned as well.

There is still some tweaking to be done to the pattern, but that is the Circular Pocket prototype.  I thought about naming it the “Cocket,” but not many people share my sense of humor, go figure.  I’ve also started writing out instructions for the dpn cozy, but haven’t worked through it yet.

My guess is that these patterns won’t be available until after Christmas, because starting tomorrow, things will be getting busy around here.  I still need to finish my BIL’s second sock, as well as my dad’s pair.  I won’t be seeing them until after the holidays, so I’ve got a little leeway with them.

I’ll leave you with United States Coast Guard Station Tybee’s Christmas Photo…

What a bunch of totally buff hotties, I’d marry one.  Oh wait, I DID!  YES!  So yeah, Mr. Yarn Bearer is in there, on the boat’s stern, second from the left, clean shaven head.  Yum.

Happy Holidays!

Look! Another tab of mystery!

Only, it’s not so mysterious, it’s screams “Needle Kimono!”  Well, I wrote out the tutorial for the Needle Kimonos and I hope everyone enjoys wrapping their needles in sweet, sweet hand made goodness.

Like I said in the tut, I haven’t got the step by step photos up yet, the holidays are brutal on my crafting time.  Be sure to check back soon as I have plans to make more Needle Kimonos, I’ll snap plenty of “action” shots then.  Feel free to leave a comment or send me a message if you have any trouble with the pattern.

Just to keep you coming back for more, I’ve got another trick up my sleeve that will soon be revealed…  Can you say original knitted lace dress pattern?!  I’m working on it now and  hope to have it written up in the new year.  Later.

Humanity Totally Redeemed Itself

Every once in a while, a person or two does something so unbelievably generous and thoughtful, it makes me think there is hope for us yet.  Of course, it doesn’t take much to make me happy, so this list of quick, free crafty gift projects made me glow.

Head over to Sew, Mama, Sew! for the Ultimate Handmade Holidays Master List.  It inspired me to change my mind about my mother’s Christmas present.  Instead of the cookbook, Mom’s getting the Wellness Bag

I had been reconsidering her gift this past week or so, but wasn’t quite sure what would better suit her needs.  Unfortunately, Mom’s hard to please.  Maybe you know someone like this:  you can get them exactly what they ask for, gift-wise, and it would still disappoint them and their reaction comes off as ungrateful and annoyed that you even tried to please.  Then there’s the usual comment of, “I’ll never use this, I’d rather not have gotten anything at all.”  Maybe the Wellness Bag will melt that chilly disposition of her’s.  We’ll find out soon enough.
